The Boys Season 5 is going to release in 2026 as confirmed by Karl Urban. Season 4 finale was a huge build-up for the upcoming season and the biggest question on everyone’s mind is, who will Ryan side with in season 5?
Ryan has already left Homelander. It was because Homelander found out Ryan was keeping a picture of Becca and Butcher so Homelander lost control and burnt the entire room.
He ordered Ryan to come closer to him, it was pretty much like Homelander is going to laser Ryan if he disobeyed him. So Ryan ran from Vought Tower.
Butcher texted him as Grace wanted a favor from Butcher. Once Ryan found out why he was called to the facility, he tried to leave and Grace tried to stop him. However, Ryan mistakenly pushes Grace a little too hard resulting in her death.
Now Ryan’s allegiance is in question for The Boys Season 5. Butcher gives up control and gives it to Kessler to gain powers because of this incident and Homelander and Ryan are already on bad terms.
Ryan now knows the truth about his father but it was all too much for him to process at the same time and he wanted some time to process but Grace forced things as there was not enough time.
Who Will Ryan Allign with in Season 5?
Butcher is on a mission to kill Homelander, he is doing this mission solo but he now has tentacles powers strong enough to kill Neuman and a devil on his shoulders (Alter ego Kessler).
While Butcher hasn’t fully given up control as he only killed Neuman when he could have killed all the supes (Kimiko, Starlight, Zoe) he won’t feel the same way about Ryan anymore after he killed Grace. Ryan was actually the turning point for Butcher.
All the Boys have been captured by the government except Starlight and Butcher. Starlight will most likely try to rescue everyone while Butcher will try to complete the virus to kill Homelander.
Without Virus there are only two guys who can actually kill Homelander. Soldier Boy and Ryan, while Ryan believes he is not strong enough to take down Homelander and does not want to kill his father, Soldier Boy will definitely want to.
Soldier Boy Will Train Ryan
Soldier Boy actually hates Ryan and Homelander. Homelander is a disappointment for Soldier Boy.
Butcher and Soldier Boy could have ended Homelander in Season 3 but Soldier Boy also targeted Ryan, his grandson but Butcher kept his promise to Becca and protected Ryan.
At the end of the Season 4 finale, we see Homelander watching Soldier Boy sleeping in the cryo chamber.
Ryan does not have anyone to go back to right now, if he goes back to Homelander, he will have to obey all of his orders and do things he does not want to do.
Butcher is not going to help Ryan anymore either. So, the only thing left for him is to free Soldier Boy and convince him to train him.
There are a lot of fan theories that Soldier Boy will train Ryan so that he can kill Homelander while Soldier Boy will fight Butcher in Season 5.
Ryan Will Become Homelander 2.0
In comics, it was Black Noir who turned out to be the clone of Homelander and after killing the real homelander he took his place. So, there are a lot of fan theories that Ryan will kill Homelander in Season 5 and take his place, he will become evil, and eventually, Butcher will have to put him down.

In the end, these are all just theories. We will have to wait for two more years to see who Ryan will really align with.
