[Theories] Why Did The Kaiju Choose Kafka in Kaiju No 8?

Kaiju No 8 anime was released this year and instantly gained a huge fan base. Season 2 of Kaiju No 8 is already in production.

The manga of Kaiju No 8 is also ongoing and is currently in chapter 111. Even though 100+ chapters have been released, there has been no explanation of why Kafka was chosen as the Kaiju No 8. So, in this article, I am going to speculate why was he chosen.

Why Kaiju No 8 Chose Kafka

Unlike other Kaijus, Kafka’s Kaiju was different, as it could talk and wanted to kill the other Kaijus. Meanwhile, every other Kaiju wants to destroy the planet.

Kafka after failing to join the defense force ended up in Monster Sweeper Inc., cleaning up after battles with kaiju.

During an incident, Kafka gets injured while saving Ichikawa and then they decide in the hospital to try one more time to join the Defense Task Force.

While in the hospital, a small Kaiju crawls into his mouth, turning him into the Kaiju No 8.

The Kaiju says “Found You” before entering Kafka’s mouth which means, Kafka was not randomly chosen but the Kaiju was actually searching for him.

There are many theories about why this happened, some fans say it was because of his naturally low power output making him easier to control for the Kaiju.

Some fans say it was because Kafka was already part kaiju without his knowledge.

Kafka Weakness Attracted Kaiju

As I mentioned this theory already, it seems dragonfly Kaiju saw that Kafka was weak but he still wanted to defeat Kaijus anyway.

This made him the perfect host for the Dragonfly Kaiju. It wanted to use Kafka’s body to help humanity.

Hybrid Kafka Theory

There is another theory that Kafka is actually a part of Kaiju. As we already know some Kaijus can shapeshift, like Kaiju No 9.

A Kaiju could have taken the face of a human to reproduce and Kafka could have been a result of that which means Kafka was already half Kaiju and Dragonfly Kaiju actually made him a complete Kaiju.

When Dragonfly Kaiju said I found you, only Kafka could hear him while Ichikawa could not. This could mean Kafka heard him only because he was a part Kaiju himself at that time too.

Final Words

While there are other theories as well such as No 9 created No 8 to spy on humans. However, in the end, these are just theories, the manga creator did not reveal anything about why Kafka was chosen as the Kaiju yet.
