Find Us on Socials

As a diehard fan of Liga MX, I was pretty frustrated when I booted up EA Sports FC Mobile, ready to build my dream team with all my favorite Mexican players… only to find they were nowhere to be seen. It’s a real head-scratcher, especially when you consider how popular Liga MX is and how much love it got in past FIFA games.

Licenses Problem

If you’re scratching your head like I was, let me explain why Liga MX is not EA FC Mobile and EA FC 24. It all comes down to licensing. Sports games need to get permission from the real-life leagues and players to use their names, logos, and even their faces. These agreements are basically like contracts, and sometimes, things just don’t work out.

Konami Deal

So, what went wrong with Liga MX and EA Sports FC Mobile? Turns out, Liga MX made an exclusive deal with Konami, the company behind eFootball. That means, for now, the ONLY place you can play with fully licensed Liga MX teams is in eFootball.

These licensing agreements are kinda like complicated negotiations. They involve a lot of money and lawyers, and sometimes, the two sides just can’t come to an agreement. When that happens, certain teams or even entire leagues can end up missing from games.

These licensing deals can last for a really long time. We might see Liga MX return to EA Sports FC Mobile eventually, but it could be ages. It all depends on whether EA and Liga MX can come to an agreement down the line.

Final Words

I know it’s not the same, but EA FC Mobile still has a ton of awesome teams and players. Maybe give some other leagues a try, you might discover a new favorite! Licensing deals aren’t set in stone forever. Maybe one day, we’ll get our Liga MX fix back in EA Sports FC Mobile.
