Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles has not appeared in The Boys Season 4 yet. However, he was a major character in the season 3.
The Boys revive Soldier Boy so that he will help them take down Homelander. Butcher and Hughie team up with Soldier Boy.
They make a deal in return for taking down Homelander they will help him track down his old teammates so that he can kill them.
In the episode, Herogasm of Season 3, they nearly killed Homelander but Homelander ran away using his full strength. Later it is revealed that Homelander is actually the son of Soldier Boy. But Soldier Boy didn’t care and kept his word to fight Homelander but Ryan tried to stop Soldier Boy.
Soldier Boy tries to kill Ryan but Butcher stops him. At the end of season 3, The Boys put Soldier Boy back to sleep in a frozen state. Soldier Boy fans are now curious if Soldier Boy is going to make an appearance in the finale or not.
The Boys Season 4 Episode 8 will release on 18th July 2024, this Thursday. It has been confirmed that Season 5 will be the final season of the series.
A new Soldier Boy compilation video was posted on the Prime Video YouTube channel. The video is titled “Jensen Ackles is THE Soldier Boy” and the caption teases the “most diabolical season yet“.
The timing of the video, just days before the finale, and the caption seem to be teasing his return. However, the video didn’t contain anything new, just clips from the Season 3.
Will Soldier Boy Return
Before Gen V and the virus were revealed, Soldier Boy was the only supe that could take down Homelander.
However, after the virus discovery, Butcher asked Sameer (forced) and Frenchie to make a virus strong enough to kill Homelander.
At the end of the recent episode, Sameer used the virus on Kimiko and ran away. But it confirmed that the virus is strong enough to kill Neuman but not Homelander.
Soldier Boy is currently in a cryogenic sleep in a secret facility. The showrunner has confirmed that Soldier Boy will return before the series ends. So, that means he will most likely return in The Boys Season 5.
“The old TV adage is like, never kill anyone unless you really, really have to. Never close a door, open a window… We’ll all have to wait and see, but I can’t imagine the series ending without Soldier Boy making another appearance.”
However, it is not confirmed if he will return in the season 4 finale or not. If he comes back, Butcher is not going to be the one to set him free since he knows Soldier Boy will go after Ryan.
Theory#1 Homelander Frees Soldier Boy
Soldier Boy is a huge threat to Homelander but now they have a common enemy “William Butcher” so maybe they will form some sort of alliance. However, this is just a wild theory that appeared on Reddit. If Homelander frees him, he knows Soldier Boy will most definitely go for Ryan.
Theory#2 A-Train Sets Him Free
A-Train secret is out in the open and he is most likely on the top of the Homelander’s kill list now. A-Train not only leaked the information but also saved The Boys life on multiple occasions in Season 4 including Episode 7, when he fought against Deep to save Starlight.
In the end, he removes his tracking chip and goes into hiding to escape Homelander. So, nobody knows where he is right now. In order to save himself, maybe he will set Soldier Boy free to save himself from Homelander. He does not owe anything to Butcher or Ryan anyway. This seems to be the most likely scenario.
Final Words
Well, in the end, these are just theories maybe he won’t appear at all in The Boys Season 4 Episode 8 Finale.
However, the showrunner is known for hyping a character so if he is coming back in Season 5 we will most definitely see a small cameo of Soldier Boy in the upcoming episode.
