Merged Beast Agito is a powerful shikigami that came into existence by merging four other shinigami.
When Sukuna was using Yuji’s body he was reading every Jujutsu Sorcerer around including Gojo. He found out about Megumi’s abilities and decided to take over his body.
This is the reason why he saved Megumi from Mahoraga in the Shibuya Incident Arc.
Megumi Fushiguro was the perfect vessel because of his cursed technique, the Ten Shadows Technique, which would allow Sukuna to bypass Gojo’s Infinity.
Sukuna manipulated Megumi by making him watch his sister get killed. This crushed Megumi’s spirit and Sukuna took over his body.
During the fight with Gojo, Sukuna summoned Merged Beast Agito and Mahoraga to defeat Gojo using the Ten Shadow Technique.
What is the Ten Shadow Technique?
The Ten Shadows Technique is a cursed technique of the Zenin clan. It allows the user to summon ten different shinigami in the Battle.
As mentioned above, Sukuna always had a plan to defeat Gojo by taking the body of Megumi, who can perform the Ten Shadow Technique.
Shikigami are powerful cursed creatures that are summoned by Jujutsu sorcerers through the manipulation of shadows and cursed energy.
How Was Agito Created?
Merged Beast Agito is a powerful shikigami created by merging Nue with three other shikigami: Great Serpent, Tiger Funeral, and Round Deer.
The key component to this shikigami combination is Round Deer, as this shikigami grants it high healing abilities.
This means that similar to Mahoraga, it also has to be killed in one shot. Agito mostly attacks with hand-to-hand combat, charging its hits with electricity.
Moreover, Agito can also fly. However, we didn’t see much of a fight from Agito as he was killed by Gojo in one shot
Why Did Sukuna Create Merged Beast Agito?
Sukuna’s cursed technique is cleave and dismantle, which can adjust its power based on the amount of cursed energy of his opponent.
However, it originally couldn’t bypass Gojo’s Limitless technique.
Limitless is basically the ultimate defense of Gojo. Agito was created to distract Gojo in the fight so that Sukuna could observe Mahoraga’s ability.
Moreover, as Agito possessed the healing ability, it was the perfect shikigami to stop Gojo from using the Hollow Purple.
Sukuna realized that he could eliminate the space between himself and Gojo by adapting his cleave and dismantle technique.
Gojo and Sukuna were canceling out each other’s sure hit effects with their domain expansions most of the fight. However, Sukuna had it all planned out.
Sukuna observed Mahoraga, a shikigami with the ability to adapt to any technique. Sukuna then used this ability as a reference to evolve his own cursed technique, allowing him to bypass Gojo’s Infinity.
Final Words
Sukuna had to play the long game to defeat Gojo in the battle. Agito was created to merely distract Gojo in the fight so that Mahoraga can adapt to Limitless.
Sukuna knew if Gojo used Hollow Purple on Sukuna with maximum output it could kill him.
So he had to make the fight 3v1 against Gojo.
Hollow Purple was used to defeat Mahoraga and heavily damage Sukuna but Sukuna used the opportunity to kill Gojo in the end.
