The most awaited chapter, Lookism 526 is finally here and Shingen is dead. Alot has been revealed in this chapter, like how Shingen died and how Gun Park made it to Korea from Japan. But let’s start with a small recap of the previous chapter.
Recap
The showdown between Shintaro and his twin brother Shingen began. Shintaro reveals he has the “reverse eyes” ability and flaunts it as they fight.
Shingen’s anger boils as he would have given up the chair (leadership) if Shingen had just asked, but he went and killed their parents instead.
Shingen accuses him of unnecessary violence, but Shintaro insists on strictly following clan rules even if it means fighting his own blood.
A flashback reveals how deeply Shintaro supported Shingen, even studying tirelessly to prepare him for leadership.
But now, Shintaro has made alliances with Park Somi, who betrays Shingen by stabbing him to gain favor for her family.
She wants to marry the clan leader but she thought Shingen will never acknowledge her and Shintaro promised her he would marry him after Shingen is dead.
This betrayal leaves Shingen weakened before the battle even starts. Shintaro shows no mercy, beating Shingen down and declaring that Shingen no longer fits the clan’s future. But Shingen, accepting his fate, offers to give Gun Park a name, showing he truly cares for him.
However, Shintaro delivers a blow, slicing off Shingen’s arm and revealing that his sword “Yodo Muramasa” can even cut through the powerful black bone.
In a quick cutaway, Gapryong Kim and Reporter Kim discuss Shingen’s unique Ultra Instinct (UI), which doesn’t boost power but suppresses his violent side, making him the true “Tora Oni” when he deactivates it.
Shingen asks Shintaro to run away as he prepares to deactivate the Ultra Instinct.
What Happened in Lookism 526?
Shingen Deactivates Ultra Instinct
Lookism 526 starts with Shingen deactivating the Ultra Instinct so that he can reveal his full strength. Meanwhile, he is surrounded by the rebels who want Shintaro to become the leader.
The moment the child with reverse eyes stops controlling Ultra Instinct, the Oni comes out.
Just as he deactivates his Ultra Instinct, the people surrounding him start to feel fear like his aura has somehow shown them all that if they move they will die.
Shingen made the first move and started tearing those rebels apart, nobody stood a chance against him. Shintaro is shocked to see the difference in strength between them and he says he has to kill him if he wants to live, moreover, he only has one arm now and a wound on his chest as well from his sword.
Shingen vs. Shintaro
Shintaro Yamazaki rushes towards him to kill him in a single strike, however, Shingen punches him in the face. He survives though and realizes Shingen is doing all of this just for Gun Park. The irony is, that Shingen is protecting Gun Park from his clan meanwhile Shintaro killed his only son for the clan.
Shingen manages to break the left elbow of Shintaro, but at that moment Shintaro tries to slice Shingen’s head off clean but he manages to grab the sword by his teeth, the same way Gun did with Goo Kim, like father like son.
He manages to put Shintaro down by punching him again, thinks it’s over, and goes straight for Gun Park (since his violent nature is not suppressed) but barely manages to control himself.
However, Shintaro gets back up and stabs his throat with his sword. The more rebels arrive and start slicing him with their Katanas, but he still manages to overwhelm them.
Shingen’s Final Sacrifice
So, the rebels came up with an idea, to throw their katanas at him instead of going near him. Shingen realized he was going to die so he grabbed Gun Park and threw him far away.
This is my last bit of sincerity to you Gun, Make it out alive!!
Fast forward, Gun Park then reads the newspaper, the paper reveals Shingen is dead and his son is missing.
Clan members found Gun Park, at first Gun Park thought they were here to kill him on Shintaro’s orders but turns out Park Somi sent them.
Park Somi then provides him with a smuggler’s contact through the clan members, they reveal that Gun Park has to leave Japan otherwise Yamazaki will kill him, so he needs to move to Korea.
Gun Park arrives in Korea but in passed out condition and the one who finds him is the Fist Gang leader Gapryong Kim.
Review
The chapter marked the end of Shingen Yamazaki’s story and revealed how Gun Park came to South Korea from Japan.
Gapryong Kim is actually the rival and an enemy of Gun Park’s father. But it seems he is the one who will introduce him to Charles Choi and Tom Lee.
Charles Choi was second-in-command of Fist Gang while Tom Lee was the closest aides of Kim. The chapter was solid and ended on a huge cliffhanger, it seems Lookism Gun Park Past Arc will be ending soon as well.
