Kagurabachi Anime Adaptation Rumored to Be in Development by Cygames Pictures

According to the report shared by Toyo Keizai Online, a Japanese news magazine, the hit manga “Kagurabachi” is being adapted into an anime by Cygames Pictures.

This is exciting news for those who have followed the manga since it launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023.

Toyo Keizai also reported that Kagurabachi has been a massive hit both in Japan and overseas, with a lot of fans calling themselves “Bachibros”.

The manga already has over 1.3 million copies in circulation and ranked first in the Next Manga Awards 2024.

This includes the first four volumes, which have been selling so well that they got reprinted on November 14. Plus Volume 5 drops on 4th December.

For a series that just started in September 2023, this is a massive achievement. And the anime adaptation was bound to happen for a successful project like this. Kagurabachi has even grabbed the #7 spot on Manga Plus by Shueisha.

CyberAgent and Shochiku will be teaming up for this project, two big names in the anime world.

CyberAgent is known for its involvement in Oshi no Ko, while Shochiku has worked on classics like Noragami and Violet Evergarden.

The official synopsis of the Kagurabachi according to MangaPlus is as:

Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordsmith father. One day he hopes to become a great sword-maker himself. The goofy father and the serious son–they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly, tragedy strikes. A dark day soaked in blood. Chihiro and his blade now live only for revenge. Epic sword battle action!

Kagurabachi currently has 59 chapters, releasing weekly every Sunday. The chapters are available on both VIZMedia and MangaPlus.
