The recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen has confirmed that Megumi’s return is closer than ever. The final showdown between Yuji and Sukuna has begun.
Even Gege has confirmed that Shinjuku Showdown Arc is going to conclude the story.
However, some fans are convinced with the storyline as most of them were expecting Gojo’s return.
His return did happen in some way, Yuta took over his body to fight Sukuna and weaken him.
The original plan was for Hana to use Jacob’s Ladder to separate Sukuna but turns out Jacob’s Ladder this time around was much weaker because of Hana’s injuries.
It seems Gojo fans do forget that Yuji is the main character of the series, not Gojo.
Yuji’s character has developed a lot in the Shinjuku Showdown, he was sidelined in the Culling Games Arc.
So how Megumi will return and why Yuji has to die at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen?
How Yuji’s Domain Expansion Will Free Megumi?
We already know most of Yuji’s abilities directly affect the soul. His black flashes were so effective against Mahito because of this exact reason.
During his fight with Sukuna, he learned a lot of new abilities. It was revealed he also knows the reverse cursed technique now.
He has blood manipulation techniques too and above all he can use dismantle/cleave, the ability of Sukuna.
In JJK 264, Yuji ended up using the domain expansion though we still don’t know what his domain expansion really is, but it teleported both Sukuna and himself inside his mind/made-up reality.
He tried talking Sukuna out of killing people by using Talk No Jutsu.
However, it didn’t work, at the end of JJK 265 he ended up threatening Sukuna, he said either come back to me or he will kill Sukuna.
So how Yuji’s domain expansion will be the savior of Megumi? While fighting Sukuna in JJK 264, he kept using the dismantle technique at the barrier that is holding Sukuna and Megumi’s soul.
Yuji made a binding vow to make his attacks more effective. Sukuna then underestimated him and said all he needs to do is avoid the dismantle technique and he will be alright.
As we already know the attacks inside the domain are sure hit, if Yuji starts using dismantle in his domain, there is no way at all for Sukuna to avoid that unless he uses his domain expansion to counter.
Sukuna is in no condition to use another domain expansion.
Yuji Sure Hit Soul Dismantle Attack Will Separate Megumi
Yuji already said he doesn’t understand what is going on in his domain, he used it because of the desperate situation.
Moreover, Sukuna also said, this is a phenomenon created by the heat of battle between Sukuna and Yuji.
There is a chance that we are actually seeing in the panel is not a domain expansion but a metaphysical space created by Yuji’s connection with Sukuna, as Sukuna is in Yujikuna form too.
When Yuji threatened Sukuna, he seemed too confident like he held Sukuna’s life in his hands.
However, even though he has the ability to end Sukuna right there, he won’t.
Killing Sukuna means killing Megumi, the same thing happened with Hana when she was about to kill Sukuna, he used Megumi’s voice to distract Hana and stop her from killing them.
So, Yuji’s only choice is to utilize the domain expansion’s sure hit effect and use dismantle on the barrier to separate Megumi from Sukuna.
Yuji Will Die Along With Sukuna
From the start, after Yuji consumed Sukuna’s finger, Higherups wanted to kill Yuji to end Sukuna along with him.
However, Gojo protected him as he thought even if he lost control, he could defeat Sukuna but with the Mahoraga’s help Sukuna ended up killing Gojo.
So, even if Yuji ends up consuming Sukuna again, he will remain a threat to the Jujutsu World. To permanently kill Sukuna, Yuji has to die along with Sukuna.
Final Words
JJK 266 is just around the corner, let’s see if Yuji’s threat means anything.
Sukuna counter-threats Yuji too at the end, he said, he will kill everyone Yuji loves or cares about but last I checked he has pretty much-killed everyone.
