Sam Riordan is a super-strong character, first introduced in the Gen V series. A spin-off series of The Boys.
He is a bit similar to the Super Boy in the Young Justice animated series. Sam is super durable and can jump really far.
Moreover, he is also invulnerable, so bullets or any sharp object cannot affect him just like Soldier Boy.
Soldier Boy, once America’s top superhero, was captured and experimented on by Russians for decades.
He is the father of Homelander and just like Homelander, he has super strength and super durability. However, he cannot fly like Homelander or shoot lasers.
After escaping, he teams up with the Boys to get revenge on his old team. Due to the Russian’s experiments, Soldier Boy developed a new power, light emits from his chest and explodes and turns a supe back into a human.
Both Sam and Soldier Boy have similar abilities but Soldier Boy has PTSD while Sam has schizophrenia. So, who is actually stronger, and who would win in a fight?
Gen V Sam vs Soldier Boy – Who is stronger?
Even though they both possess similar abilities, Soldier Boy was the strongest supe in the world before Homelander.
In the battle between Soldier Boy and Homelander, he struggles but eventually overwhelms Homelander with the help of Butcher.
However, he still manages to escape. In the season 3 finale, Butcher uses his laser on Soldier Boy but it barely grazes him so Soldier Boy is strong enough to withstand lasers.
While we didn’t see Sam much in the latest season of The Boys, he had enough screen time in Gen V to show his strength. He was able to take down guards in a matter of seconds.
Soldier Boy has been around for 100 years, meanwhile, Sam is just 22-23 years old in the series. Soldier Boy has more experience using his powers. Sam is still young and figuring his powers out.
Then there is the radiation blast of Soldier Boy that can turn a supe back into a Human. So, even if Sam and Soldier Boy fought at full strength, Soldier Boy still has the upper hand due to his ability.
Also during Sam’s battle with Andre in Gen V, Andre was able to knock him out using the taser stick. So Sam does have weaknesses.
Sam is stronger than most Supes, including Golden Boy, his brother. Sam is also bulletproof and can withstand powerful attacks but when it comes to the big guns like Homelander and Soldier Boy, he simply does not stand a chance against them.
Final Words
So, in my opinion, Soldier Boy is a lot stronger than Sam in The Boys television series. However, we will find out more about Sam’s abilities in Gen V Season 2 which will release in 2025. The Boys Season 5 is confirmed to be released in 2026.
