Kenjaku had a way to switch bodies. Well, Yuta’s special spirit, Rika, ate Kenjaku and copied that ability. It’s pretty creepy, but it was their last hope of getting an edge in this fight.
Gojo’s strongest power, the Six Eyes, is tied to his body, not his spirit. That meant Rika couldn’t just copy it. So, Yuta made a difficult choice – he gave up his own body so he could use Gojo’s powers and his domain expansion too against Sukuna. Shoko performed the surgery on Yuta and transferred his soul into Gojo.
