JJK Exhibition – Did Gege Just Confirm Gojo Is Not Coming Back?

A special Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition in Shibuya, Japan, confirmed that the cover of volume 26, featuring Gojo Satoru with flowers, is a funeral portrait. It was confirmed by Gege, the creator of JJK manga series.

This news has divided the entire fandom, one part of the fandom says we already knew that Gojo is dead but Gege never said he cannot return.

The other part said this funeral portrayal of Volume 26 confirms that he won’t be returning and all fans should move on.

Currently in the Manga, Yuta has taken over Gojo’s body using Kenjaku’s technique and is fighting Sukuna. The manga was on a long break because of Gege’s illness and returned after 28 days.

In the final panel of JJK 262 part 2, we saw Yuta launching Gojo’s Hollow Purple. You can read my article on this specific topic.

Did Gege Confirm Gojo Is Not Coming Back?

Gojo is trending on Twitter because of the cover of Volume 26. I have also added the translation of the tweet that actually started all this controversy on X.

The original illustration of Gojo for the popularity poll was amazing with its fresh fashion

The cover of volume 26 was really meant to be a funeral portrait

The answer was, “I was planning on using camellia but I lost so it’s camellia.” The language of pink camellia flowers → Eternal love and honesty Thank you so much, Akutami Sensei.

So, what does this mean? Is Gojo really never coming back? The tweet does not say that! It just means that Gojo is dead which we already knew when Sukuna cut him in half.

Besides it is the cover of Volume 26 which is old. So, Gege never confirmed that Gojo is not returning.

However, personally I also believe he won’t be coming back. Yuta took over his body using the Kenjaku’s technique. This technique only works on the dead body as Geto was dead when Kenjaku took over him.

So, we already got Gojo back in a weird back (his body, not his soul). Nobody knows what will happen after Yuta’s timer is up. In the latest chapter, even Sukuna is confused about what will happen to Yuta.

We will most likely find out in the next two chapters if Yuta will survive or not. But if you are hoping for Gojo’s revival, it won’t happen.

Final Words

The flowers were originally meant to be a different type of camellia, symbolizing rebirth if Gojo had won. However, since he lost, Gege chose a different type of camellia, confirming his death.
