Recap

In Chainsaw Man 177, Yoru attacks Chainsaw Man, sending him flying. She reveals that the Gun Devil and Tank Devil, her children, were created from war, and she uses them as weapons.

Black Chainsaw Man, feeling overpowered, tries to escape by heading to a blood donation center, screaming in gibberish.

Fans believe he might be trying to regenerate or just missing Power, though Chainsaw Man doesn’t usually need blood to heal.

What Happens in Chainsaw Man 178?

The chapter is called “Gun Goddess.” It begins with people confused, pointing at the Statue of Liberty, which has fully cracked, and its head falls to the ground.

As I speculated in the previous chapter that something will come out of the statue, “Gun Goddess” came out of the statue with a massive gun.

It seems the sacrifice of approximately 400,000 of the 3.5 Million Members of the National Pistol Association of America gave her the control of Gun Goddess.

I am not entirely sure what kind of entity this Gun Goddess is, but as I mentioned she has a massive gun, most likely a semi-automatic rifle.

In the next scene, Yoru says “Bang,” and the Gun Goddess fires a huge bullet that destroys everything in sight. The destruction is so huge that even Asa is shocked and she says “How Could I forget, Yoru’s a devil“.

Black Chainsaw Man is badly hurt, with most of his body destroyed. At this moment, the Aging Devil shows up to help Black Chainsaw Man, feeding him blood and telling him about the deal the Aging Devil made with Public Safety. The contract will heal him, but for each bite, children will die.

The chapter ended on a cliffhanger, will Black Chainsaw Man eat the Aging devil or not? We will find out in Chainsaw Man 179.

Review

Back in Chainsaw Man 174, we found out about the true motives of Public Safety. Fumiko Mifune told the Japanese government about the deal she made with Aging Devil and she asked for their permission.

The Aging Devil demanded 10,000 Japanese children be murdered aged between 0-9 in front of mirrors and in return the devil would happily get eaten by Chainsaw Man and the concept of aging would be removed from the world.

The emergence of the Gun Goddess from the Statue of Liberty was an exciting twist, with Yoru gaining control through the sacrifice of 400,000 people.

Black Chainsaw Man has no choice but to accept Aging Devil’s terms but will Denji be able to live with the murder of 10,000 children? I love how Fujimoto always ends a chapter with such massive cliffhangers.

Yoru’s power continues to grow, and she is becoming a truly terrifying force. The destruction she caused proves how far she is willing to go to end Black Chainsaw Man and become the most fearsome devil again. Loved the latest chapter and really excited to see what Pochita is now going to do!
