Recap

Igarashi managed to stop Rin from scoring the goal in the previous chapter by pulling a surprising move.

He got the foul but stopped Rin. Loki taunts Rin on which Rin gets super frustrated and promises revenge on Igarashi.

Turns out, Igarashi’s move was actually planned by Noa. While Igarashi feels proud, Noa reminds him to stay focused.

After the foul, Noa teams up with Kaiser and uses Isagi as a decoy to push for a goal. Isagi realizes that he’s just a piece in Noa’s strategy. As Shido and Charles try to stop them, Noa’s movements confuse their defense.

Noa’s true goal isn’t just to win the game but to help Kaiser become a stronger player so that he can turn him into a rival.

As Noa and Kaiser press on, Tokimitsu commits a foul to stop them from scoring a goal, which results in a yellow card.

Nanase defends Tokimitsu’s foul, saying it was necessary to break BM’s momentum. This foul sets up a free-kick opportunity for BM, with Kaiser ready to take the shot.

As Kaiser prepares for a 29-meter free kick, Isagi realizes that both Noa and Rin are just using him to get ahead.

Frustrated by being a pawn in their plans, Isagi gets fired up and declares that he’s ready to crush everyone.

What Happened in Blue Lock 279?

Blue Lock 279 starts with all eyes on Kaiser as he gets ready to take the free kick. Then the conversation between Kaiser and Noa starts.

Noa’s Intentions

Kaiser realizes that Noa has been pushing him not just to win but to become a stronger player so that Noa can mold him into a rival.

Noa reveals that the only one who he considers threatening is Loki. Then he asks Kaiser to surpass him, as he wants to play against and defeat players who are stronger than him.

Meanwhile, Isagi is watching closely, trying to figure out where Kaiser will aim. Will it be the left corner or the right corner? He knows he needs to predict it right to make a play.

Kaiser’s Resolve

Kaiser does not want to just be a piece of Noa’s plan. He wants to create his own story and make his own mark in the league.

He sees himself as a fighter who is determined to prove his worth, not just to Noa but to everyone watching. It is a moment of self-discovery for Kaiser as he realizes he is tired of just being used by Noa.

Isagi’s Calculations

As the play continues, Isagi is trying to read Kaiser’s intentions. He thinks about how he can steal the goal if he gets the chance. He is ready for either a rebound or a change in the shot’s trajectory.

Isagi knows he has to be quick and make a choice about where to move because this is the only way he can steal the spotlight and crush everyone, he has to score the final goal!

Kaiser is one step ahead

Just when it seems like Kaiser will make a clean shot, he confuses everyone. Isagi is caught off guard because he thought he had it figured out.

Loki’s Entrance

Kaiser’s shot looks like it’s going to the left, but he twists it back to the right. Out of nowhere, Loki shows up at incredible speed.

Loki moves in to intercept it. Isagi is in shock as he sees Loki flying in to block the ball. It’s like time slows down for Isagi as he realizes that everything is about to change and he missed his chance.

The Block

Loki manages to stop Kaiser’s strike with what the manga panel is calling his “godspeed.” The power of the shot is no match for Loki’s quick reflexes.

The chapter ended on a cliffhanger, and now Loki has the ball. The match between PXG and BM still didn’t conclude in this chapter.

Review

To be honest, I was expecting some great ‘Isagi moments’ in this chapter but he was again sidelined. But still, I loved the recent chapter, especially Loki stealing the spotlight back from BM players.

Both Isagi and Kaiser are done with getting used by other players. They both want to be the ones to score the final goal but Loki stole their hope at the end. It’s been 30 chapters since this match started in Blue Lock, and I am eager to see how it wraps up!
