Chainsaw Man 179 is finally here. The previous chapter introduced a new entity called Gun Goddess, controlled by the War Devil Yoru. She sacrificed 400,000 index fingers to gain control of it.
The Gun Goddess fired a massive finger-shaped bullet, destroying everything in its path including the Black Chainsaw Man.
Black Chainsaw Man got badly injured, and the Aging Devil showed up, offering him a deal to recover but it will result in 10,000 children losing their lives.
Back in Chainsaw Man 174, the Aging devil made a deal with Fumiko Mifune, he is fine with getting erased which will also result in the erasure of the concept of aging. However, in return, he asked for a huge sacrifice.
The Aging Devil demanded 10,000 Japanese children be murdered aged between 0-9 in front of mirrors and in return the devil would happily get eaten by Chainsaw Man and the concept of aging would be removed from the world.
This was actually the plan of Public Safety all along and the government of Japan gave permission to move along with the deal.
Meanwhile, Yoru motives are simply to become the most fearsome devil in the world. She can only achieve this if she kills Black Chainsaw Man.
What Happened in Chainsaw Man 179?
Chainsaw Man 179, titled “Vamvagah“, starts with the Aging devil standing before Chainsaw Man and offering him the deal.
Black Chainsaw Man is still holding the blood donation drive board and screaming “Vamvagah”. He declined Aging Devil’s offer and is requesting blood. The aging devil is shocked to see him decline the offer in his condition and asks Pochita if his head is completely empty.
Yoru Found Chainsaw Man
Meanwhile, Yoru, the War Devil, finds Chainsaw Man and accuses Aging Devil of stealing her moment of glory. She wants to turn Pochita into a weapon to achieve her goal of becoming the most powerful devil again.
According to Famine Devil, if Chainsaw Man becomes Yoru’s weapon, Denji will be free and become a normal human being.
Asa tries to calm her down. She reminds Yoru that they have already won since Chainsaw Man is barely holding on.
Since Asa has feelings for Denji, she is not quite sure if this plan will work but Yoru assures her that it will work.
Both our wishes will be granted, like Famine said. If Chainsaw Man becomes my weapon, Denji can return to being an ordinary human.
Yoru’s Betrayal
Asa unsure of what might happen, she takes control of the body. Yoru says to Asa, she should stop fearing her and let her deal with this, but Asa declines.
Yoru fool Asa into thinking that she has given up and won’t hurt Chainsaw Man for now, she tries to emotionally manipulate Asa.
Feeling guilty for doubting Yoru, Asa lets her take control of the body again. Without hesitation, Yoru seizes the moment and fires the finger-shaped bullet.
Asa thought the bullet was aimed at Pochita and she got scared, but it turns out Yoru was targeting the Aging Devil instead.
The Aging Devil casually catches the bullet and mocks Yoru for thinking she can kill the Aging Devil with a bullet.
The chapter ends with Aging Devil preparing to fight War Devil, mocking both Yoru and Pochita, saying that neither of them is mature enough to deal with him.
Review
It seems Yoru will be fighting with Aging Devil in the upcoming chapter while Chainsaw Man will find a way to recover without accepting the deal.
Aging Devil was able to disintegrate a massive finger-shaped bullet like it was nothing, which tells us how strong he truly is. Yoru’s emotional manipulation in this chapter is what got me hooked on this chapter.
Yoru has Gun Goddess on her side along with Gun Devil gauntlet and Tank Devil Gauntlet, but will it be enough against someone who can disintegrate such massive bullets? Overall, it was an amazing chapter. Looking forward to Chainsaw Man 180!
