Gun Park is an anti-hero character in Lookism. Currently, the backstory arc of Gun Park is ongoing in the Manhwa series and alot has been revealed after 500+ chapters about him.
He holds legendary status across the series and is recognized as one of the “10 Geniuses of Charles Choo” trained by Tom Lee and raised by Charles Choi. He made his first appearance as Crystal Choi’s personal bodyguard.
Beyond his role with HNH, we already knew he has connections in Japan to the Yakuza Family, and that he is the son of some big shot, but nothing was revealed much about Gun Park’s backstory before the ongoing arc.
Everyone has questioned his loyalty towards Charles Choi and we are finally going to see why he is so loyal to him.
In the previous arc, ‘Hunt for Gun Park‘ he fought against the entire second generation to protect Charles Choi’s red paper which proves his connection to the Yamazaki Clan.
He has faced off against characters like Jerry Kwon, Zack Lee, Vasco, and Johan Seong, among others, all at their peak, and has still come out on top.
Even when heavily injured, he fought against Daniel Park UI and Goo Kim and still managed to defeat them both. He nearly fought with James Lee as well but he had other plans, let’s get back to the topic.
Why Gun Park Left Japan And Started Living in Korea?
The Son of Shingen Yamazaki
Gun Park Past arc revealed that Shingen Yamazaki (Ex-Leader of the Yamazaki Clan) was the father of Gun Park. They have this tradition that the eldest son with the reverse eyes becomes the next leader of the clan.
Gun Park was the child with the reverse eyes, Park Somi was his mother, and at that time Shintaro was the vice-president of the Yamazaki Clan. After Shingen fought with Gapryong Kim and lost, he became lethargic and the big families of Yamazaki Clan decided he was no longer set to be the leader of the clan.
So they decided Shintaro should be the leader, and the rebels fought against Shingen Yamazaki to remove him from the leadership.
Shintaro Yamazaki is the strict rule follower in the family, he even made his son kill himself for breaking the rules and trying to manipulate Gun Park.
After Shingen defeated the rebels, Shintaro executed the leaders of those families. However, after that, he found out that he was actually the eldest son and their mother changed their destinies to protect herself. He killed her after finding this out and then killed his father as well after finding out he knew this as well.
The Fall of Shingen Yamazaki
As I mentioned above, the child must be the eldest and must possess the reverse eyes, everyone thought Shintaro did not have reverse eyes, but later he revealed that he always had them he just didn’t show it so that Shingen could shine.
Shintaro fought Shingen to the death to take his place even though Shingen would have given him the leadership without a fight.
Shintaro wanted Shingen and Gun Park both dead, he succeeded in killing Shingen but Shingen managed to protect Gun Park before dying.
Why Did Gun Park Leave Japan?
The Hunt for Gun Park started in Japan as Shintaro ordered every Yamazaki member to hunt and kill him. However, Park Somi who is now the wife of Yamazaki Shintaro, ended up helping Gun Park, her child.
She asked some members to bring him to her and then gave Gun Park the contact of the Smuggler who then helped him escape from Japan to South Korea.
Who Found Gun Park in South Korea?
And this is the reason why Gun Park left Japan, to save himself since Shintaro would have killed him if he stayed in Japan. Alot about Gun Park has yet to be revealed.
But for now, we know Gapryong Kim found him near the shore, and he will be the one to take care of Gun Park even though he is the sworn enemy of the Yamazaki Clan. We will find out more in the upcoming chapter Lookism 527 which will release on 8th November 2024.
Final Words
Gun Park’s backstory is still ongoing and we have yet to find out why is he so loyal to Charles Choi. How much does he know about Gitae Kim? Will he avenge his father’s death? We do know he returns to Japan and goes after some ‘specific families’.
He is actually telling the story about his past to Daniel Park and I am pretty convinced that his second body has some sort of connection to Park Somi.
