JJK 268 – Fans Want Gojo’s Return But Do We Really Need Him At This Point?

JJK 268 is right around the corner and with Nobara’s return, fans are expecting and theorizing Gojo’s return as well.

The JJK manga is ending soon, only four chapters are left and the upcoming chapter will be released on 1st September, you can check the full release schedule of JJK 268 here. I always suspected that Nobara is alive as I mentioned in my theory article of JJK 255.

What Happened To Sukuna?

Jujutsu Kaisen’s chapter 267 was full of surprises. We discovered Sukuna’s final finger was never consumed by Yuta.

It was the plan all along and Yuta managed to bluff Sukuna as the finger he ate was of Yuji’s.

Yuta originally wanted to consume Sukuna’s last finger so he could copy the Shrine and use it against Sukuna.

However, Gojo disagreed and told Yuta that even if he consumed Sukuna’s last finger, Yuta won’t be able to copy Shrine.

The last finger of Sukuna was kept hidden and Nobara used resonance on the finger to weaken Sukuna and Yuji finished the job with Black Flash. However, it is highly unlikely that Sukuna will die.

The plan was to save Megumi and separate Sukuna from Megumi so that Yuji can consume Sukuna and become the vessel for Sukuna again.

Why Fans Believe Gojo Can Return?

Nobody expected Nobara’s sudden return, as we all thought she died during the Shibuya Arc Incident.

Her death was never explicitly confirmed but Gege pretty much gave hints that confirmed her death.

However, in the recent chapter, she suddenly woke up and used resonance which resulted in the defeat of Sukuna.

So now fans believe, if Nobara can return, Gojo can too. We still don’t know what happened to Yuta as he fainted during the fight because he had no cursed energy left after using Gojo’s Domain Infinite Void against Sukuna.

Rika is still holding Yuta’s body, and we still don’t know the after-effects of the Kenjaku’s technique. There are three things that can happen to Yuta.

  • He will live as Gojo forever, as Kenjaku did with Geto.
  • Yuta will die as his copy technique only works for 5 minutes.
  • He will somehow return to his original body once the copy technique is over.

Gojo’s body is fully healed but he died after he was sliced in half by Sukuna. Kenjaku’s technique only works on dead bodies and this pretty much confirms Gojo’s death.

However, back in Shibuya Incident Arc, even though Geto died, he somehow managed to resist Kenjaku after Gojo called him out.

So fans are hoping if Yuta somehow goes back inside his body, Gojo will return.

But it wouldn’t make any sense at this point. Yuji has now become the strongest sorcerer alive. He has already defeated Sukuna.

Sure, Gojo’s return will bring the trio back with their mentor, but his return won’t make any sense for the plot.

Besides, in order to kill Sukuna properly, Yuji will have to die after consuming Sukuna again, there are so many loose ends that Gege has to tie up in four chapters including the merger plot and Uraume vs Hakari fight.

Final Words

There are many ways Gege can bring Gojo back too like he did with Nobara, but the question is, do we really need Gojo to return? It will make a lot of fans happy but in Shonen animes, usually after the mentor passes, students take up the mantle.

The deaths are important in these types of animes so that the main character can improve, this helps in the character development.

In Naruto Shippuden, Jiraya died and this helped Naruto to surpass Jiraya and learn the Sage Mode.

What do you think, do you think Gojo should return at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen?
