Anime Expo 2024 is a massive celebration of Japanese pop culture currently ongoing in Los Angeles. The Expo started on 4th July and is expected to end on 7th July. Lots of exciting announcements about new anime seasons and projects were released at this Anime Expo.
However, no teaser or announcement was made regarding the Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) Season 3 but Director Shota Goshozono says he is excited for the animation of Post Shibuya Maki. Other than that no news regarding the release date.
We already know JJK Season 3 is confirmed as a small teaser was released after Season 2 ended. The upcoming season will adapt the Culling Game Arc from the manga.

- Solo Leveling Season 2.
- Blue Lock Season 2.
- Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online sequel.
- My Hero Academia: You’re Next Movie.
- Blue Exorcist Season 4.
Who Will Animate JJK Season 3?
MAPPA animated the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. They are also going to animate the JJK Season 3 too. However, they already have a lot of projects this year like Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc and Hell’s Paradise Season 2.
When Will JJK Season 3 Release?
There is no news regarding the release date yet. As I mentioned earlier MAPPA Studios is busy and won’t be able to work on Season 3 this year. So, most likely we will get the season 3 in early 2026.
Season 1 was released back in 2020 and season 2 aired last year, in 2023. There was a 3 year gap between them but a move was released in between.
Besides we already know how MAPPA overwork the employees in making multiple anime animations at the same time. So we can expect the season 3 to come a little earlier than expected.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Plot
The upcoming season will be the Culling Game arc’s adaptation. Season 2 was about Shibuya Arc. Most of the characters will return including Yuji Itadori and Megumi. However, Nanami and Nobara died in the last season so they won’t be returning.
Gojo was sealed by Kenjaku so we won’t be seeing him anytime soon either. If you have seen the movie and have yet to read the manga, you must know about Yuta Okkotsu, who is the second strongest after Gojo. He will be the main character of the season.
The execution order on Yuji is lifted since Gojo is not around and is being blamed for the Shibuya Arc. Masamichi Yaga will be sentenced to death as everyone at the Jujutsu Society now thinks he was the co-conspirator for organizing the Shibuya Arc.
The Culling Game is actually an all-out battle royale between jujutsu sorcerers and even non-sorcerers that takes place after the Shibuya Incident. People earn points by killing each other.
We will also see Maki annihilate the entire Zenin clan and gain more strength after her sister dies.
Final Words
If you can not wait for season 3, you must read the manga. Currently, the Manga is in chapter 262 and Yuta is fighting Sukuna in a weird way (I Won’t spoil). Yuji has grown a lot stronger after the Shibuya Incident. However, there will be more deaths than the Shibuya Incident in Culling Games Arc.
